Everything, Everything
At 14 years old I asked my mom if we could go to the movies to see Everything, Everything. Thankfully she bought our tickets and we made our way to the top of the cinema to watch this masterpiece. I initially fell in love with the movie because the leading lady looked like me in a romance movie. This was really rare at the time and I wanted to embrace all black actors and actresses at all times.
After watching the movie I fell in love with the beauty of the film, not old enough to analysis a film and lacking the proper knowledge to do I based my love for the movie on emotion. I felt refreshed and hopeful that the world was just waiting for me to come out and jump right in. The love that Olly had for Maddy showed what true love and trust can look like in your youth.
The overall plot was disheartening and to keep from spoiling the movie I will say, it’s better to be honest with your children than to protect yourself from their truth. If you haven’t seen this movie I highly recommend that you sit down and enjoy the beauty of young love and stepping into your truth.
